My husband said he was craving my dutch oven cioppino for dinner so we packed up the family and the beloved crab pot this morning and headed over to Lawson’s Landing, at Tomales Bay, to catch some of the ingredients (dungeness crab) for said cioppino. It was a very popular weekend for camping at Lawson’s Landing and since there is only a week and a half left of the dungeness crab season everyone and their brother was on the little pier throwing out their crab pots and ring nets trying to catch a few of these delectable crustaceans . The pier operators have several tractors that will launch your boat in and out of the soft sand for about $15 bucks but there are those who prefer to do it themselves. Sometimes these thrifty folks end up having their truck and boat pulled out, kalboshing their thrifty intentions. I had a feeling this guy was going to be one of them after spinning his wheels in the same spot for about 20 seconds. Luckily, he made it out by the skin of his teeth after a couple guys helped with a little pushing.
