A few weeks ago we decided to head up to Salt Point again, but this time we were going to make Fort Ross our focus. Fort Ross is located on Highway 1 along California’s beautiful Sonoma Coast, just 2 1/2 hours North of San Francisco. Fort Ross is a great place for adults and kids! The Fort it’s self is amazing with California’s first windmill, living history actors/historians, cannons, trading post, and beautiful scenery. You can easily make a whole day of it between the fort and the cove below. My kids enjoyed running around the big grassy area, asking the Living History folks questions, and being able to touch everything in trading post – including all the hides.
The Fort Ross Compound/Visitor Center is open Saturdays, Sundays and holidays except Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day. If you would like more information regarding Fort Ross, follow this link: http://www.fortrossstatepark.org
