I have always been fascinated by really old cemeteries. They are always quiet, and look as though they might get a visitor once a year, which also looks as though the grounds keeper keeps the same schedule.  I have driven past this 19th century settlers cemetery many times without stopping for one reason or another, but this day I had passed one too many times and so we took a brief detour so that I could finally capture these two Guardians at the gate. Of the cemetery’s occupants were farmers, mostly of Portuguese or Spanish decent, men, women, children, generations of families lay together there, and all had died between 1804 and 1889.
